Forgiveness is not based on feeling. If we forgave based on our feelings we would never forgive because we are stuck with the way we feel. Our feelings can be fickle. We can love a person today and hate them tomorrow.
Forgiveness is a choice. You choose to let go of anger and/or guilt towards someone and/or towards yourself. Forgiveness is complicated but it can be done. Choosing to forgive keeps you healthy emotionally and physically.
